In a recent interview with The Trentorian Genie Francis reveals that “I think enough time has passed to finally let go of that little ingénue Laura and look at who I am today,” “I’d say I’m just about ready to play Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? I’m hoping America can rediscover me in a new way. And I’m honestly feeling like that can really happen now.” Genie talks about what it was like to be in the national spot light for the Luke and Laura days. Genie reveals that everything was overwhelming back then, and wasn't exactly rose petals. “I certainly didn’t grasp the enormity of it at the time at all,” Francis admits now. “I didn’t appreciate it enough. The magnitude of it was just astronomical, and it was terrific to be able to share it with someone as wonderful as Tony Geary, who played Luke. But the show also made a killing off of me, and part of me thinks, ‘I should have made a killing, too.’ I did not.” “It’s still great to get back with Tony on the show because we’ll always share something amazing. It’s like we went to Woodstock together. It was life-changing, transformational, and huge. I love Tony. I feel like when I’m with him on camera, I can do anything. I feel that safe, that taken care of.”

Don't Expect to See Genie Francis Again Anytime Soon

Don't expect to see Genie Francis back to GH anytime soon. She hasn't been asked back and she is starting to fill her schedule. According to Tele-Buddy's Tinseltown Tales, she has her new Hallmark Channel movie, "The Note II: Taking A Chance On Love" airs Jan. 31. She's also interested in working with Marc Cherry from "Desperate Housewives" and is not ruling out the idea of jumping ship to another soap, like CBS's "Bold and the Beautiful." Genie Francis says "I don't think the writers are interested in a mature Laura," Genie Francis believes that GH likes to remind viewers of who Laura use to be but she isn't in her 20's anymore now Laura has 3 kids and a ex-husband and not a real story to tell.

Genie Francis: Laura awakens!

Genie Francis fans have been waiting for this moment patiently for 2 years. Two years ago we were playfully teased when Robin gave Laura an experimental drug that allowed her to wake up from her catatonic state. Laura quickly deteriorated as she started to remember killing Rick Webber. Before we knew it Laura was Catatonic once again. Now, two years later Genie Francis is back Aug 26. Johnny and Lulu are captured in Shadybrook when Johnny takes Lulu to Shadybrook for help. Scott Baldwin father of Logan shows up with Mac the Police Commissioner to arrest Johnny. Lulu is erratic and then they put a straight jacket on her. In Soap Opera Digest Brandon Barash Says

"It is a dramatic take down and separation. Johnny harbors a lot of love for Lulu. She kins that. He's never tried to help anyone in this situation before and he's at his wits and because he knows that he can't help her anymore. The things we do for love."

Lulu's brothers Nik and Lucky try to help her but Scott Baldwin is torments her to testify against Johnny. Lulu goes to her mother, Laura for help. Before Lulu knows it Laura awakens for the first time in years. Lulu always reaches out to Laura for not having in her life for much of it. Lulu can feel Laura touching her hair and realizes Laura is awake. In Soap Opera Diges Genie Francis Says

"The mother/daughter connection is strong and what wakes her
up. It is stronger than the illness. "

Genie Francis is expected to be on until October. Genie Francis previously stated that she would love to be on longer than 3 months.

*** Soap Opera Network has learned that actress Genie Francis will return to the role of Laura Spencer on ABC Daytime's "General Hospital" beginning Monday, August 25. Previously it was reported the actress would return on Tuesday, August 26

Some rumors are saying Genie Francis is returning for a few days while others say she'll be back longer. Genie Francis will reprise Laura for episodes airing in September. Laura will awaken after a visit from daughter Lulu. Even though Tony Geary is on vacation, he will return in time to get Luke back into action and have a reunion with the newly awaken Laura. Speculation indicates Laura will not go back to sleep after this adventure, though no firm plans are set for her to stay beyond her month-long stay.

Actor Update

Vanessa Marcil:
Bob Guza confirms that GH is pursuing to have VM return to GH, but nothing is a done deal. Guza will put her back on the show asap when she gives the word. Guza has a story ready and waiting.

Sarah Brown:
SB said she would love to stay on as long as she is given the flexibility to work on movies and prime time. Guza agrees to accommodate her needs to keep Claudia around.

Genie Francis:
GF agreed to come back for a short stint Aug 26. GF said she would gladly come back if she was asked but apparently the writer's don't want to go that route currently.

Tristin Rogers:
TR will be back on GH: NightShift this season. No plans as of yet to bring him on to GH.

Graham Shiels:
GS is returning to his role of Cody to GH July 21. No word of him being on NS2. You can remember him last year seeking help from none other than Dr. Lainey. Will they pick up where they left off?

Finola Hughes:
Rumors going around that states Anna will make a short cross over to GH in order to help Robert. I'll keep you updated.
